Green-Works is an award winning social enterprise and registered charity dedicated to helping the environment by diverting redundant office and school furniture from landfill by providing reused and remanufactured furniture to small business, charities, schools and community groups whilst providing training and real work experience to the unemployed.
Why use Green-Works
Green-Works was the first organisation to offer a complete environmental furniture service -
- Our priority is to maximise the use of the furniture we get, not to maximise our profits.
- Green-Works have redirected second-hand office furniture to over 5,000 organisations including schools, charities and small businesses, saving them over £2.5m in the process.
- We have made donations of second-hand office furniture to several deprived regions of the world and worked with others to do the same
- Green-Works operates to create jobs and training for marginalised people we have created over 200 jobs directly and indirectly around the country (in contrast to the 2 jobs that would have been created if the furniture had gone to landfill), helping to fulfill our social aims.
- Our warehouse and sales operations are located in deprived areas to create real jobs and training opportunities for people who need help to get back on their feet.
- We help people who have been homeless, in prison, excluded and unemployed for a long time
- Green-Works is proud of its positive social impact and provides £500,000 of social benefit each year.
- Green-Works has been acknowledged as a national leader in this field and we won the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise 2008 - Sustainable Development.
Our Ethics
- Protect the environment through the diversion of waste from landfill.
- Reduce the operating costs of charities.
- Create employment and training for marginalised people.
Our Mission:
Green-Works maximises the re-use, recycling and re-manufacture of redundant office furniture and equipment to protect the environment, to create valuable employment and training opportunities, and to make quality office items available at low cost to the community sector and small businesses. We enable organisations to create social and environmental benefits from their disposal of large quantities of office furniture. Green-Works partners with other like-minded groups and charities to distribute these employment and social benefits nationwide.
