Green-Works is an award winning social enterprise and registered charity dedicated to helping the environment by diverting redundant office and school furniture from landfill by providing reused and remanufactured furniture to small business, charities, schools and community groups whilst providing training and real work experience to the unemployed.
Removing unwanted furniture
Green-Works aim to reduce, reuse or remanufacture as much material as possible, whether that be material from chairs, wood from desks or even nuts, bolts and castors; some items however are unable to be reused so they need to be recycled. Whilst recycling is a viable and successful route for unwanted or disposed-of items, reusing or remanufacturing uses far less energy and should therefore be pursued wherever possible.
Our aim is simple - landfill is not an option!

So how do we do it?
In order to ensure we get the most from every item we collect, we operate a two phase triage system. Initially we sort and grade your items on-site. By doing this we are able to improve efficiency by reducing the amount of time spent on a contract and importantly cut transport costs. Then having separated those items that need to be recycled and sending them directly to local recycling plants we can then transport the remaining items to the nearest warehouse to be re-used and sold to Charities and SME's at low prices.
Our Results
Green-Works diverts 98% of all items that come through the door from landfill - there are very few companies who can state that!
Recycling is the final option for the Green-Works items and we continually strive to reduce this amount by finding innovative and creating ways to reuse these items. .
There are usually options to landfill if you look hard enough!
