GreenWorks is dedicated to helping the environment by diverting large quantities of redundant office and educational furniture from landfill with the prime aim of ‘re-use’. As part of the London Re-use Network which is made up of local charities and not for profit organizations that work together to deliver reuse and repair services, GreenWorks collects from very large office blocks to single office suites and provides second hand quality re-use furniture to charities, community and educational groups and small business via the network.

Colin Crooks, Green-Works CEO will be hosting 2 presentations on Tuesday 25 May at Clerkenwell Design Week, covering aspects of sustainability and re-use of furniture.Clerkenwell Design Week is a three-day annual festival celebrating London’s creative heart. This festival will offer exclusive product launches from some of the worlds leading design brands as well as exciting seminars, workshops, art installations and music. It’s the ideal chance for creatives to network in a relaxed yet stimulating environment. It will inspire, educate and entertain!

There is an increasing amount of discussion about the carbon content of manufactured items but what is still often ignored is the enormous material and social cost associated with extracting raw materials and developing them in to manufactured products.
Colin Crooks CEO of Green-Works will discuss the impacts of extracting or logging the raw material that are essential to creating new furniture.
His presentation will cover why accredited supply chains are so important in terms of protecting the environment and in protecting the livelihoods of vulnerable communities. Moreover he will show how good design makes a significant difference to sustainability by potentially reducing the amount of material required both ion the short and long terms.
