GreenWorks is dedicated to helping the environment by diverting large quantities of redundant office and educational furniture from landfill with the prime aim of ‘re-use’. As part of the London Re-use Network which is made up of local charities and not for profit organizations that work together to deliver reuse and repair services, GreenWorks collects from very large office blocks to single office suites and provides second hand quality re-use furniture to charities, community and educational groups and small business via the network.

On April 29 I will be setting off on a 300 mile bike ride to raise support for our Sierra Leone project, which aims to rebuild communities across this war-torn country.

We are now entering the fourth year of this programme and the relationships we have built and the knowledge gained is helping us get deeper into the issues than ever.

With around 49% of the population being under 16, we feel that supporting education is the most important single thing that we can do. We plan to equip the schools and libraries out there with the basic things they need to function books and book storage, chair and stationery. We also plan to fully equip a new library that is being built there as well as supporting the existing libraries.

My journey will see me travelling the 300 miles from Hungerford (Berkshire) to Liverpool. If you would like to support me, it couldnt be easier; you can log on to the justgiving website or go via the around the world page.

Every pound counts, with just 100 providing 2 children with a complete set of equipment for their whole school life; 500 will supply 10 children; 1000 will provide for 20 children and 6000 will cover the costs for a whole container, which can provide enough furniture and stationery to help up to 120 children and the kit lasts for years helping many generations of children (and teachers!)

If you know of any friends, family or colleagues who might also be interested in sponsoring me, please pass the link on
